Day Respite Centre
BlueCross operates Day Respite Centres within two of our residential homes:
- BlueCross Livingstone Gardens (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) from 9.30am to 3.00pm
- BlueCross Ivanhoe (Tuesday) from 9.30am to 3.00pm
The Day Respite Centres offer a specialist program for seniors that includes a variety of social, creative and wellness activities to suit a range of abilities. Some of the activities include art activities, exercise and physical therapy, cognitive exercises, as well as a range of leisure and lifestyle activities including movie screenings, men's shed and armchair travel. Each client will have an individual program developed to suit their abilities and interests. This is particularly important to meet the needs of those living with dementia.
Day Respite Centre clients also have access to all the amenities that the residence offers including the cafe and residential group activities.
Support for people living with dementia
We offer a dementia-specific program to provide individualised activities for each participant based on their particular requirements and stage of dementia, as well as opportunities for group social activities. For more information on our approach to supporting people living with dementia, please refer to our STARLife program information.
How do I access the day respite centre?
Anyone over the age of 65 is welcome to attend. Simply contact us and we will arrange for an assessment to be conducted prior to commencement. This assessment enables us to ensure we can meet all participants' needs and tailor suitable care and activities.
