BlueCross|SapphireCare supports Royal Commission into aged care
17 April 2019
The Federal Government has commenced a Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety to review the quality of care provided in residential aged care and home care.
As a leading aged care provider in Victoria, BlueCross|SapphireCare welcomes the Royal Commission and any move by the Government to give the most vulnerable people in our society a voice and the care and support that they need.
BlueCross and SapphireCare have a combined experience of 40 years caring for older Victorians in our residential aged care homes or in their own homes. With the Royal Commission, we are hopeful that this will lead to much needed reforms in the aged care sector and ultimately result in a more cohesive delivery of care across the sector.
Along with other aged care providers, BlueCross|SapphireCare was requested to provide a written submission to the Royal Commission which we responded to promptly in early January 2019. We welcome the opportunity to share the good work we have done to enhance the wellbeing of our residents and clients, and we will continue to engage with the Royal Commission in a proactive, efficient and transparent manner.
The Royal Commission public hearings commenced in February and will continue throughout 2019, with an interim report to be provided by 31 October 2019 and a final report by 30 April 2020. (BlueCross merged with SapphireCare in December 2017. Together, the merged entity now operates 33 aged care residences across Victoria, supporting more tha 2500 residents and over 1000 clients living in their own homes)
