Department of Veterans Affairs - Veterans Home Care
BlueCross Care at Home provides Veterans’ Home Care (VHC) services.
VHC is a Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) low level care program that is designed to assist eligible veterans, war widows and widowers to continue living in their own home as they age. The program provides in-home services to support our clients health, safety, wellbeing and independence in the comfort of their own home, which enables them to maintain their connections with their local community.
VHC services include:
Domestic assistance, such as house cleaning, laundry, bill paying and shopping from a list
Personal care, such as assistance with showering, dressing and grooming
Safety-related home and garden maintenance to minimise safety hazards around the home, such as replacing light bulbs, smoke detector batteries and cleaning gutters.
Respite care to provide a break for carers.
To access services as part of the Veterans' Home Care program, an assessment is required by DVA to determine eligibility. These assessments are done mostly over the phone, and those eligible will receive a care plan outlining the services for which they have been approved.
For enquiries regarding eligibility and this assessment, please contact the DVA assessment agency on 1300 550 450. Once you or your loved one has been assessed and approved to receive home care, you can choose BlueCross Care at Home to provide the services you require. Simply contact us and one of our friendly case managers will arrange delivery of your care plan.
