Commonwealth Home Support Program

BlueCross is a provider of home care services that are funded through the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP). The CHSP is one consolidated programme that provides entry-level home support for older people who need assistance to keep living independently at home and in their community. Support includes services such as domestic assistance, personal care and respite. The process to receive services includes an assessment to determine what services are required and then a referral to a provider such as BlueCross who will then deliver services.

The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) is designed to support people aged:

  • 65 years or older   
  • Or 50 years or older and identifying as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person
  • Or 50 years or older and on low income, homeless or at risk of homelessness
  • Still living at home
  • In need of help at home to continue living independently

The CHSP benefits frail older people and carers through:

  • access to entry-level support services
  • a standardised national assessment process and entry point through My Aged Care
  • focus on restorative care including wellness

There are a range of services available to help you get through the day, depending on your needs, you may be entitled to receive some of the following:

  • Personal care
  • Domestic assistance
  • Flexible respite
