BlueCross Baradine in Mooroolbark, is one of BlueCross' aged care residences in Melbourne providing quality permanent, respite (short term aged care in a nursing home) and dementia care.
Baradine's location in Mooroolbark has the sweeping Dandenong Ranges to its east and bustling Croydon and Bayswater at its feet. With 75 places, Baradine is a beacon of high quality care for people with low, high and dementia specific care needs.
Purpose-built by BlueCross, Baradine’s interiors reflect the graceful lines of early twentieth century design, with a grand chandelier and tall ceilings in the front entrance, and crown moldings, soft hues and 1930s inspired art prints throughout the residence.
We have a registered nurse on duty at all times, and our enrolled nurses, personal care attendants and hospitality services staff are well-trained and attentive to your individual and changing needs.
Quality aged care and social lifestyle in the heart of Mooroolbark
BlueCross Baradine features several generous lounges and dining areas, a gym, hair salon, library, post box area, a resident run kiosk, air conditioning and heating throughout, self-service kitchenettes and two secure outdoor courtyards. Baradine also has a number of intimate corners for reading or time with your fellow residents and family.
The centrepiece of this residence is its expansive main lounge where you can relax in an armchair or sofa while you watch your favourite Foxtel shows, browse a book from the library, or simply sit and enjoy the gas log fire.
Beyond the fireplace there is a huge, formal dining room and a bustling kitchen. Adjacent to the lounge sits the private dining room that can be booked for special occasions. The room’s ornate wallpaper, light sconces and crystal chandelier makes an elegant setting for an intimate dinner with your family and friends.
To ensure the highest possible quality care, our Residence Manager oversees a team of dedicated and qualified care professionals, including a Clinical Care Coordinator, nurses and personal carers.
Our care model is flexible and responsive to individual care needs even as they change, including the provision of specialised nursing care and palliative care if needed. This person-centred approach is designed to support each resident to maintain their dignity and independence wherever possible.
We are committed to consistency and quality of care and implemented an initiative in 2016 to reduce (and ultimately cease) use of agency staff in our residences. This means our nurses and carers are regular staff who know the residents and are familiar with their needs and preferences.
We also work with a range of partners on programs to support social, physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual wellbeing to ensure the best overall health outcomes for each resident.
BlueCross Baradine runs a large range of leisure and lifestyle activities each week. Carpet bowls, ballroom dancing, bingo and word games are just some of the activities run in the lounge. There's also the Calais Club room for gents where you could share stories about your favourite Holden or Ford or discuss the finer points of carpentry.
There's a great deal to draw you outdoors, too. Baradine's enclosed balcony overlooking the Dandenong Ranges is a place to track the changing colours of the hills or tend to your cherished pot plants. The charming central garden with its roses and the sunny quadrangle also vie for your attention if you love pottering about.
At BlueCross Baradine our top quality décor and amenities are matched only by the service and care we offer you. These include physiotherapy in our purpose built gym, the homemade, fresh and nutritious balanced meals carefully prepared for you by our in-house chef and when happy hour strikes, the Red Earth bar serves up beers and quirky cocktails.
BlueCross residences provide a high level of hotel services, with laundry, gardening, housekeeping, cleaning and maintenance all included.
