BlueCross Ashby in Templestowe is a boutique 78 bed aged care residence. We provide quality aged care, with ageing in place and dementia care, as well as respite care (a short term stay in a nursing home).

With incredible views of the Yarra Ranges and its peaceful suburban surrounds, Ashby is also located conveniently close to, Westfield Doncaster and the greenery of Birrarrung Park, which helps to support our residents' ongoing connection to the local community.

We are committed to providing exceptional quality care with our registered nurses, on-site allied healthcare professionals and well-trained personal care attendants.


Ashby has modern, comfortable furnishings, natural tones and central climate control throughout the residence.

Its simple floor plan comprises open plan lounges, shared dining areas, self-service tea and coffee stations, landscaped outdoor areas including a terrace, deck and Japanese garden, a café and an underground car park.

A gas fireplace, flat screen television, comfortable sofas and armchairs, a piano and organ make the large common lounge the hub of Ashby; while the new café and outdoor terrace are perfect for catching up with family and friends over a coffee and cake. Ashby also features a private dining room, which residents can book for special celebrations with guests.


BlueCross Ashby offers a choice of room types with 78 Standard and Superior rooms.

All rooms offer the same amenities, with some rooms boasting views to the Yarra Ranges or surrounding gardens.

To ensure the highest possible quality care, our Residence Manager oversees a team of dedicated and qualified care professionals, including a Clinical Care Coordinator, nurses and personal carers.

Our care model is flexible and responsive to individual care needs even as they change, including the provision of specialised nursing care and palliative care if needed. This person-centred approach is designed to support each resident to maintain their dignity and independence wherever possible.

We are committed to consistency and quality of care and implemented an initiative in 2016 to reduce (and ultimately cease) use of agency staff in our residences. This means our nurses and carers are regular staff who know the residents and are familiar with their needs and preferences.

We also work with a range of partners on programs to support social, physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual wellbeing to ensure the best overall health outcomes for each resident.


BlueCross Ashby runs a leisure and lifestyle program throughout the week. The program is designed to promote holistic wellbeing with activities and therapies such as art and craft, daily exercises and regular bus outings. Residents will also enjoy memory games, musical entertainment, armchair travel and even kicking up their heels with low impact dance therapy.

If gardening is your sport, Ashby's outdoor courtyards are just the place for residents to flex their green thumb or simply enjoy retiring to the serene Japanese garden for some fresh air.

We also offer hairdressing services in our hair salon so you can enjoy the feeling of being pampered and groomed on site, plus podiatry and other allied health services as required.

At Ashby, you'll enjoy homemade and nutritious meals freshly prepared by our onsite chef, to ensure a healthy and satisfying diet is maintained.

BlueCross residences provide a high level of services, with laundry, gardening, housekeeping, cleaning and maintenance all included.
