Purpose built for aged care

Ashby is a purpose built, spacious residence located in Lower Templestowe, with 60 places for people with low care needs. With excellent presentation and service, Blue Cross Ashby offers a comfortable and friendly environment that encourages independence.

We are currently adding 18 rooms to Ashby, which will offer high care for residents. Due to be completed in late 2013, these extra rooms will allow for ‘Ageing in Place’ - the unique opportunity to live in one place although care needs may increase. 

All of our tastefully decorated private rooms come equipped with ensuite, telephone and television connections, hydronic heating and ceiling fans for your comfort. Most rooms are within an easy walk of the common rooms and overlook our well maintained garden and walking trail.

Leisure & Lifestyle
Our leisure and lifestyle team, along with some extraordinary volunteers, have developed an interesting and engaging program, which focuses on maximising your independence and wellbeing, and includes painting and craft work, music sessions, daily exercise class, a Falls Prevention program, “brain gym” exercises, weekly shopping trips as well as regular outings and visiting performers. 

Residents spent time reading and relaxing in our spacious lounges and enjoy the convenience of our visiting Council library service. The beautifully landscaped gardens are perfect for quiet relaxation, courtyards and gardens also enable you to spend time with friends and family.

Personal Attention - Person Centred
Ashby’s team of highly trained and enthusiastic staff commenced at the opening in 2002 and take great pride in the relationships and special knowledge they have developed regarding resident care. This helps them to ensure that everything they do is Person - Centered and meets the individual desires and needs of each resident as well as their families.  

If you are considering Ashby for your residential care, our Clinical Care Coordinator will arrange a Pre-Admission meeting, where she will find out exactly what your individual needs and capabilities are and make sure we have everything in place for you from the moment you begin your stay.  Ashby conducts a Pastoral Care program, during which all new residents have an opportunity to talk with our trained pastoral care Coordinator each week for the first month of their stay, as well as ongoing for all residents whenever they need extra support. We are often told that it is this “special” care and “feel” that makes Ashby stand out from other residences in the area

Food is a simple pleasure for all of us and the Ashby onsite chef caters to all tastes with fresh, delicious and nutritious meals prepared daily. All meals can be designed to meet the dietary requirement of each individual.
