Opposition Leader - Daniel Andrews Visits BlueCross Hansworth

Opposition Leader, The Hon Daniel Andrews MP, gets up close and personal with aged care.

Too many times we hear stories in the media about aged care residents who have received ill treatment or withering away out of sight and out of mind.

Well Linda Dowel from BlueCross Hansworth turns this picture on its head and is a fine example of ‘aging positively’.

Linda has created a warm and inviting home since arriving at Hansworth. Her room is reflective of all things precious to her over a lifetime. Photos of her beloved pets, of which there were many, her backpacking adventurous travel journeys, her love of nature and importantly, her community involvement, being a member of various clubs which filled her spare time. Linda as recently as this month, has just joined the Mulgrave Senior Citizens Club.

Linda also shared a lifetime dedication to humanity, to caring for others less fortunate than her. Linda was involved with Repat for many years, assisting injured soldiers and POW’s to resettle after coming home from the war and she assisted new arrived migrants settle into life in Melbourne.

Linda is a sparkling advocate and participant in ‘aging positively’ and Hansworth residential aged care is a fine example of how aged care is changing.  The staff at BlueCross Hansworth are committed to making life worth living and creating an environment of aging positively for those who make Hansworth their home.
