Short Term Restorative Care

Don't let a setback, hold you back.  Short Term Restorative Care (STRC) provides early intervention care aimed at improving and optimising the independence of older people.  BlueCross currently offers STRC for people in their own home, aged care residence or a combination of both, in the Western Metro region of Victoria.  The care is tailored to suit individual needs and available for up to 8 weeks, per person, per year.  STRC is aimed at restoring your independence after a health setback and we'll work with your GP and allied health staff to provide you with tailored therapy and support to suit your needs, which can include combination of the following:

  • Allied health services
    • speech therapy
    • podiatry
    • audiology
    • dietetics
    • chiropractic services
  • GP or geriatrician advice and medical care
  • Nursing
  • Personal care and assistance
  • Cooking assistance
  • Brain training
  • Therapy groups
  • Aids and equipment (including mobility aids)
  • Nutrition, meal preparation and diet advice
  • Continence management
  • Transport
  • Physiotherapy and occupational therapy
  • Social work
  • Home maintenance
  • Accommodation in residential care
  • Support services including:
    • cleaning or laundry
    • medication management
    • emotional support
    • psychologist or counsellor support
